Adobe to take Apple to court?

On top of Lee Brimelow, Platform Evangelist at Adobe, telling Apple to “screw” themselves last week, there is also now the possibility that Adobe may bring Apple to court. This rumor is fueled by the fact that Apple’s new SDK agreement doesn’t allow developers to submit applications created by cross-platform compilers such as Adobe’s Packager for iPhone OS technology, Flash-to-iPhone, that was released as part of Flash CS5.
Basically, Apple’s agreement means that not only can the iPhone not compile Flash on the web, but that apps can’t make use of it, either. In terms of making a statement, Apple is being pretty clear that they don’t want Flash anywhere near the iPhone.
Rightfully so, Adobe is pretty angry about this, as Flash is certainly part of the company’s most prominent products. Thankfully, Adobe has said this argument over Flash on the iPhone won’t affect how they create software for the Mac, as they still want to have their software available for anyone who uses a computer. Either way, it’s somewhat disheartening to see this debate may have to come in the form of a lawsuit sometime in the future. Can’t we all just get along?
