Apple retail stores just started selling unrestricted quantities of the iPhone 3G, following AT&T's plans to sell one phone per customer at full price. It's part of Apple's new policy since the company is working to sell off remaining inventory to prepare for the upcoming launch of the new 2009 iPhone.

Apple stores are now selling the iPhone 3G at the full price of $599 for the 8GB version and $699 for the 16GB models. A buyer can purchase more than one iPhone and no need to have an existing AT&T contract. Users can activate their iPhone completely through iTunes.

It was just two days ago the iPhone 3G was spotted on the China Unicom website, now it seems they would come with an available status and a price tag soon. TMC News reports, China Unicom has confirmed that they would start to sell iPhone in China on May 17.

Wan Jinjin, an analyst from UBS Securities, said earlier in a report that China Unicom might have to shoulder a heavy burden, since iPhone is likely to be highly subsidized. Besides, it could limit the business expansion by setting a threshold of average revenue per user (ARPU) for its iPhone users.

China's second-largest carrier has 130 million subscribers. China Unicom is expected to launch its 3G/W-CDMA trials in May, which is popular outside China and supported by the iPhone 3G.

Apple discontinue iPhone Bluetooth headset

Posted in iphone, news on March 25th, 2009 by brent – Be the first to comment

Apple have discontinued their $99 iPhone Bluetooth Headset. Apple Insider also revealed that Apple may have recently recalled existing inventory of the single-button headset --that it announced two years ago alongside the original iPhone-- for undisclosed reasons.

A couple of eagle-eyed readers drew our attention to the accessory's Apple Store product page that has listed the device as "Discontinued" since Saturday. Oddly, however, shoppers could still add the product to their shopping carts as of press time.

The single-button headset was first introduced in June 2007 alongside the original iPhone. It sold for $129 and was bundled with a Bluetooth Travel Cable and a Dual Dock that could charge both the iPhone and headset.

A year later, Apple dropped the price of the headset to $99 to coincide with the release of the iPhone 3G.
