After Apple executive Tim Cook hinted about thinly-veiled threats of legal action over similarities between the Palm Pre and the iPhone, like multitouch and touchscreen gesture technology, Palm has just sent a clear message:

“Palm has a long history of innovation that is reflected in our products and robust patent portfolio, and we have long been recognized for our fundamental patents in the mobile space. If faced with legal action, we are confident that we have the tools necessary to defend ourselves” Lynn Fox, spokesperson, Palm.

Yeah, the story continues...

Previously, 3Gweek reported that Apple most likely has inked the agreement with Telkomsel, the country’s largest operator, to distribute the iPhone 3G in Indonesia.

Indonesia, the 5th largest country in the world in term of population, has more than 120 million cellular subscribers.

So far, Indonesia itself isn't appeared yet in the iPhone country list.

UPDATE (1):Telkomsel accepting seemingly employee-only preorders for iPhone 3G in Indonesia through its sitehttp://www.telkomsel.com/tridentclm/ (Thanks, @aulia!)

UPDATE (2):Telkomsel Manager Corporate Communications, Suryo Hadiyanto, just informed me the offiicial URL for iPhone 3G preorder: http://www.telkomsel.com/iphone -- just need KTP (no need NIK CSDM!)

Two new TV output utilities now available in Cydia

Posted in iphone, news on January 21st, 2009 by brent – Be the first to comment

youtubeJust this last weekend there was the addition of not one but two utilities that enable TV output support for the iPhone. These little rays of sunshine wont be found in the App Market anytime soon, instead you have to have a jailbroken iPhone and search them out in Cydia.

The TVOut Project is an open source project brought to you by Backgrounder developer Ashikase. Released into the Big Boss repository you are now able to pick out the applications individually. Though this is available it is not without a few limitations, which is why Screensplitr comes into play.

Screensplitr is the other of the two applications that were released into the wild last weekend. This utility allows you to have full video mirroring which is available for the entire OS. This method however has a much slower framerate of only a few frames per second, which makes it very noticeable.  Just tap the icon to switch it on and tap again to turn it off. These utilities are really very fun to play around with so we suggest trying it out if you have the right cable at home.
