Crazy news: iPhone Nano hits the Thailand stores!

A bunch of crazy rumors about a new smaller version of the iPhone 3G called the “iPhone Nano" still flying around, but this news is really shocking me. Apple Insider reports that iPhone Nano knockoffs already on sale in Southeast Asia's stores!

Wh00t? These photos (courtessy of Apple Insider) show the iPhone Nano is now hitting the Thailand streets. Yes, you're right: it's a clone of the supposed iPhone Nano.

The Apple insider wrote:

Those eagerly anticipating next month's Macworld and the prospects of a smaller iPhone should beware, as a slew of tiny clones are introducing confusion as they reach store shelves.

While silicone case molds have surfaced that allegedly hint at a smaller iPhone in the works, a rash of similarly-sized dupes made by anonymous southeast Asian firms have added to the confusion.

The devices, spotted here by an AppleInsider reader in Thailand, are almost always designed to mimic Apple's products as closely as possible and share not only the basic design but the branding as well, in some cases directly copying the logo and the "iPhone" labeling on the back.

So, let's wait until the next month's MacWorld to see the real iPhone Nano - if any.

Mint.com: Personal finance manager for your iPhone

I know for sure, we can't stay far away from finance activity, right? But now we can "hire" a personal finance manager to handle such activity: Mint.com application, a new and free iPhone application. Seems this app is worth trying.

This application lets you check balances, budgets, transactions, and investments anywhere. All this information is synchronized with your Mint.com account automatically.

Security issues aside, it's a good first start for Mint, and for regular Mint users this is yet another way to get at things like your budget and accounts without having to rely on your bank offering a site that can be accessed on mobile devices. The alerts are also very handy and can tell you if a credit card bill is close to being due, if you're spending more than usual, or if there have been large deposits or withdrawals into your various accounts. For those things alone, it's worth downloading the app, just be sure to flip on your iPhone's built-in security lock feature.

Has anyone tried this app? How useful is it? Anything particular on security issues? Please kindly share here.

Smudge introduces Post-It app for the iPhone

Smudge Apps releases Remind Me application for your iPhone and iPod Touch. Every time you unlock your iPhone, you'll find this note (that you can save as a wallpaper) is insanely useful. The app costs 99 cents in Apple's App Store.

Remind me has six different backgrounds and eight different note styles. This app is great for shopping lists, reminders, to-do lists and notes to self.

But, wait: "Me" in the "Remind Me" logo looks-like "MobileMe" logo, right? Not sure what Apple would say about this, but personally, I like this app.

Posted in iphone, news on December 23rd, 2008 by brent – Be the first to comment

Pinger, a leading provider of mobile communication services has announced their new Pinger Phone application for managing and communicating with phone contacts as well as with friends on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.

Users can see IM status in their contacts and elect to call, text, instant message, email or even send a Facebook, MySpace or Twitter message, all from one simple menu. The application is not available not only for the iPhone but also the iPod Touch. Eventually Pinger plans to add support for BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian.

“If people under 25 designed mobile phones, they’d put IM and social network messaging alongside dialing, texting and e-mail,” said Greg Woock, Pinger CEO. “With more than 30 billion messages sent on IM and social networks every day, it's probably about time someone deeply integrated them into the basic mobile phone experience.”

Pinger Phone includes a single menu that allows users to call, text, IM, e-mail, or even send a Facebook, MySpace or Twitter message to contacts. Users now can communicate with friends without moving back and fourth between applications. Pinger Phone also logs all of your communication history so you can review was said to a specific person. Many users will be happy to know that there is a horizontal keyboard to for those who find it easier on your fingers.
